Exploring Latchi and the North West coast of Cyprus
Latchi, lying on the North West coast of Cyprus, is situated around a working fishing harbour. It is a popular and quiet area around 45 minutes drive from Paphos. The marina has many fabulous restaurants, all overlooking the harbour. Here you can relax, bathe in the sunshine and eat freshly cooked fish and local vegetables, washed down with a local ice cold beer or glass of wine.
The Akamas National Park follows the coastline and provides ample opportunities for walking, photography and wildlife watching.
The area around Latchi has clear, pristine waters that are ideal for scuba diving and snorkelling.
Where to dive in Latchi
St George’s Island (Ayios Yeoryios)
Suitable for beginners and experienced alike.
Max depth 48m
This small island is a short boat ride from Latchi harbour and offers divers of all levels a variety of diving experiences. The island has several sites of interest with a 35-metre wall, and ancient anchors at 48 metres, arches, a cave, swim throughs and abundant aquatic life.
St George’s Reef
Suitable for beginners and experienced alike.
Max depth 20m
A shallow dive ideal for novice divers and a relaxing second dive. It consists of a gently shelving reef running east to west, plus a gently sloping wall to 20 metres with numerous swim throughs and rocky outcroppings.
Photiads Bay
Suitable for beginners and experienced alike.
Max depth 12m
Also known as the amphitheatre is a pleasing dive with a maximum depth of 12metres. Consisting of a flat sandy bottom surrounded by a perimeter of rocky gullies and swim throughs.
Photiads Wall
Suitable for beginners and experienced alike.
Max depth 26m
Looking out from the bay towards the sea we have a mooring on the edge of a drop off to a maximum of 26 metres. It is suitable for all diver standards due to the various valleys and plateaus starting at 3 metres and undulating gently outwards.
Blue Lagoon
Suitable for beginners and experienced alike.
Max depth 10m
A stunning picture postcard bay with golden sands and azure waters, cool and tempting, ideal for beginners, children and a gentle snorkel.
Fontana Amorosa
(The Fountain of Love!)
Suitable for beginners and experienced alike.
Max depth 15m
Once again a shallow dive to 15 metres. Crystal clear visibility, allowing divers to meander their way around numerous hills and valleys littered with ancient encrusted amphora.
